Mission Statement

Kare For Me is a non-profit organization committed to advancing clinical research for naturally occurring pet diseases, offering grants and scholarships to economically disadvantaged veterinary students focusing on shelter medicine, and providing funding to aid law enforcement in utilizing forensic evidence to prosecute individuals involved in animal abuse.

The Story

In 2017, Dr. Angela DeRosa DO, MBA, CPE founded the Kare For Me (a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation). Her inspiration comes from a life-long love of animals and being a “crazy cat lady” herself in which she has personally rescued over 20 cats over the last 4 decades. At one time she had 10 cats living in spoiled luxury in her home; taking in the most ill, elderly cats that no one wanted.

Through-out the years, Dr. DeRosa supported rescue efforts directly and indirectly, but realized there was a great need to support veterinarians and their desires to care of shelter/rescue animals; who were often the most critically ill and in need of medical care.

Kare for Me believes that every animal deserves quality veterinarian care. To wit, Kare for Me provides scholarships and funding for under-privileged veterinarian students that either specialize in shelter medicine and/or who volunteer their services and expertise free-of-charge at no-kill animal shelters. This initiative introduces veterinary students to the emerging discipline of veterinary shelter medicine and creates educated shelter medicine providers for the future.

Funded solely by donations, Kare for Me is comprised of dedicated volunteers who not only consider pets as companions, but as family.
